Eligibility for IBPS Exam varies for different positions. Eligibility Criteria is nothing but the minimum qualification of nationality, age, and education required for any candidate to apply for various posts of – IBPS PO/MT, IBPS Clerk, IBPS SO, IBPS RRB, SBI PO and SBI Clerk.

However, before you apply online for any IBPS post, you must know the eligibility criteria for all the various positions available through IBPS –

  • Clerk Eligibility Criteria
  • RRB Eligibility Criteria

Let’s look into the three eligibility criteria for different posts:

1.    Nationality – First Eligibility for IBPS Exam

If you want to appear for any post of IBPS or SBI, you must fulfil the following criteria of nationality to be eligible for applying online:

A candidate should be a:

  • Citizen of India or
  • Subject of Nepal or
  • Subject of Bhutan or
  • Refugee who came to India before 1 Jan 1962 with the intention of settling in India or
  • Indian origin Candidate who has migrated from with the intention of permanently settling in India provided that the Government of India has issued a certificate of eligibility. Countries which comes in the list are Tibet, Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, the United Republic of Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, East African countries of Kenya, and Vietnam.

 2.    Education

Since the recruiting organisations are hiring for many positions at the same time, the educational qualification varies depending upon the post. Let’s look into each post’s eligibility criterion:

a)    Education eligibility for IBPS Exam for Probationary Officer/Management Trainee

The educational qualification required to appear for IBPS PO 2017-18 examination are:

  • A candidate must have a graduation degree in any discipline from any university recognised by the Govt. of India
    or
  • A candidate must have an equivalent qualification from Central Government

In addition to the this, a candidate must have the marks sheets or degree certificate before applying.

b)    IBPS Specialist Officer Eligibility Criteria (Educational Qualification)

As the name suggests, Specialist Officers are expected to specialise in their respective fields of study. Hence, the education qualification required for various posts are:

c)     IBPS RRB Educational Qualification Criteria

Similar to IBPS PO, a candidate must have:

  • Graduation degree in any discipline from a Govt. of India recognised University
    or
  • Equivalent Qualification from central Govt.

In addition to the above, IBPS RRB Exam also requires skillsets of:

Computer Literacy

A candidate must know a computer operating system with a degree certificate or diploma in computer operations or Language.

Alternatively, a candidate must have studied Computer or IT in either High School or College (any institute).

Proficiency in Official Language of State/UT

As IBPS RRB Posts are for regional banks, a candidate must possess proficiency in the official regional language of the Union Territory or State.

Proficiency in any language means the candidate should know the Regional Language to:

  • Read
  • Write
  • Speak

However, there is no minimum pass percentage for language proficiency; you must possess marks sheet or degree certificate as proof.

d)    IBPS Clerk Educational Qualification Criteria

The eligibility for IBPS Exam for appearing for IBPS Clerk is the same as IBPS RRB. A candidate must fulfil the given eligibility criteria to appear for IBPS Clerk Exam:

  • Graduation in any discipline or equivalent qualification from central government
  • Computer Proficiency
  • Regional/Official Language Proficiency

3.    Age Criteria

The age eligibility criteria again vary depending upon the post you want to apply.

Let’s look into the Age Criteria for each post:

Eligibility for IBPS Exam – IBPS PO, IBPS SO, and IBPS Clerk

While the age eligibility criteria to appear for IBPS PO and IBPS SO is the same. There’s a slight difference in the eligibility for IBPS Exam for Clerk.

Age criteria to appear for IBPS PO and IBPS SO in General Category is – Minimum 20 years and Maximum 30 years.

Whereas, for IBPS Clerk – Minimum Age is 20 years and Maximum 28 years.

However, A candidate must have been born not earlier than 02.08.1989 and not later than 01.08.1997 (both dates inclusive)
